HI! =D And welcome to my about me page! *waves*
My name is Haniya (pronounced Huh-nee-yuh) and I’m 14. *fistbumps all the other freshman high schoolers out there* My passions are writing, reading, drawing, and school. Plus I also dabble in photography. And ^that^ is me. And my zucchini. His name is Zachary. Okay, no, I didn’t name him.
Especially since I probably ate him soon after that picture was taken.
I don’t actually live on a prairie, as this blog’s title implies. Nope, I live in Oregon on a work-in-progress homestead with my family. The title for this blog came about four years ago when I made a newspaper as a gift for my parents. The title was “The Prairie Tide.” So, voila! Even though I don’t live on a prairie, and don’t even live by the ocean, a prairie tide–for me–indicates an ebb and flow of thoughts, or many many many thoughts just like the grass in a prairie.
I love (lovelovelovelove) writing stories. I have finished two novellas–Freedom Trek (2008 to 2009) and Wanted (2010 to 2011)–and just finished the rough draft of my first full-length novel with NaNoWriMo 2011. W00T!
I love Jesus Christ as my Saviour. <3
I am a perfectionist (all that neat-freak stuff B-) ), a night-owl and an early-bird depending on what I was the day before, and something of a workaholic. I am also prone to smiling randomly, which drives my siblings nuts, but hey, I’m a happy person. XD
I played piano for two and a half years, and have been officially playing guitar since February 22nd, 2012. My guitar’s name is Andy (this time I really did name it him Andy) and he is pretty awesome!
My family has quite a lot of animals, but I’ll minimize what is sure to be a lengthy paragraph so it isn’t dreadfully overwhelming. XP We have several goats, a generous smattering of chickens, an adorable dog, a dairy cow and her calf. See, now you aren’t overwhelmed at all, are you?
I adore poetry and books. My favorite (published) books are: The Hobbit, by Sir Genius Tolkien (gotta love the cute li’l Bilbo ^_^); Watership Down, by Richard Adams; Beauty, by Robin McKinley; Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen; the Harry Potter series; Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte; pretty much anything by C.S. Lewis, and Fable Weaver, by Carlie Gernhart.
My favorite poem is “If,” by Rudyard Kipling.
It rocks. I memorized it this summer. Such a fun flow/rhythm.
Music!
My favorite bands/artists are: Owl City, Francesca Battistelli, Jamie Grace, Celtic Woman, Lindsey Stirling, BarlowGirl, Chris Tomlin, ADELE, Jackie Evancho, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, The Band Perry, aaaaaaand…hum. I’m pretty sure that’s it. Oh, and Phantom of the Opera is awesome. So is Alan Menken.
My favorite quote has probably got to be: “We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.” But I don’t know who said it.
One source says Dr. Seuss, and another one says it’s anonymous, soo…
I was (emphasis on was) in orthodontic treatment. It started in January 2009 when my orthodontist installed (pardon the dramatics
) a lingual arch and gave me neck gear. In June 2009 the orthodontist cemented these wire and metal things in my mouth aka braces. And they call him a doctor? Huh!
Nah, he and his assistants are awesome.
Anyway, I got my braces off Thursday, the 14th of April, 2011. YAY!
My family is awesome, and I love them all dearly. <3
Constant vigilance!

Sooo you pretty much love all the same things I do.
You even specified the first book of the Hunger Games, which is the same way I feel.. I mean, the second’s okay, but the third one’s way too dark.
You should post more often!
Anyhow. Fun to come and visit your blog.
*highfive* Couldn’t agree more!
I was just thinking about posting today… *rubs hands together* I even have a few ideas…
